Michael F. Hughes, chief executive officer, founded Huen Electric in 1983. Under his guidance, the company has achieved steady growth in serving the industrial, healthcare, multi-unit residential and institutional markets. Huen is ranked among the five largest electrical contracting firms in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Mr. Hughes continues to focus on geographical expansion. Huen’s branch offices in Syracuse, NY and Waukegan, IL have had solid growth with reputations as one of the premier electrical contractors these regions.

Marking a 40-year career in the industry, Mr. Hughes' project list has surpassed the $2 billion mark.

Notable projects with which Mr. Hughes has been associated include Soldier Field, ABN Amro, Cook County Hospital; Chicago Music & Dance Theater, Sears, Roebuck & Co., Hoffman Estates; Navy Pier; McDonald's Corporation, Oak Brook; The Chicago Tribune Freedom Center printing plant; and McCormick Place expansion.

Mr. Hughes is an active member of the community serving on a variety of boards and clubs. He is a certified electrical inspector, a member of the Chicago Committee of High Rise Buildings and a member of the Electrical Commission for the Village of Oak Brook. His service includes: Trustee of Lewis University, Board of Directors of the Boy Scouts of America Chicago Area Council and other organizations such as Misericordia, Off the Street Club and Lakefront SRO.
